Would an MOT tester remove the air filter during a test?! WOULD they remove it?!
Just curious..

if it's causing an obstruction to any parts that need checked, it would be removed yes

But thats just it, I cant think what it'd be causing an obstruction to that they'd want to test. I think Im also suspicious that the garage may have been fucking about in areas of the car that they shouldn't, but never mind!
We got a phone call today asking us to take the car back cos the guy who tested it suddenly thought that he might not have tightened the airbox correctly... :( Not that I could do that, mind. (Putting the airbox back on)
Id hope they weren't trying to pull a fast one, but I trust NO garages these days after being ripped off so many times before!

they would've been checking for oil leaks most likely.
was it fiat? sounds a bit fishy the guy remembering all of a sudden that he might not have tightened the air box correctly. for the sake of it, just take it in and if it is the airbox you'll be in and out in 2 mins. if not, and they tell you to leave it with them, i'd start asking questions.

Nah it was a local independant. I just dont get why they want the car taken back in when the airbox is the easiest thing to tighten!!!
